  • 1 tablespoon whole allspice, crushed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon bottled horseradish
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1/2 carrot, sliced
  • Dressing
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar

If you wish, start soaking a few hours before going to bed; change water a few times, then soak overnight.
