- 1 2/3 cups water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 5 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon yeast
Directions

1Combine all ingredients to make a smooth elastic dough.

2Let rise until double. Punch down.

3Divide dough into four parts. Divide each part into three pieces.

4Make a 1-2 inch hole in center of each piece.

5Pull gently all the way around to form circles.

6Heat 2 qts water and 2 TBSP sugar to boiling.

7Place a few bagels at a time in boiling water.

8Simmer 3 minutes, turning once.

9Remove with slotted spoon.

10Place on greased cookie sheet.

11Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

12Remove from cookie sheet and cool.
