Polish Cabbage Rolls

- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 c. quick rice
- 1/2 c. onion, chopped
- 1 head cabbage, cored
- 1 c. (16 oz.) tomatoes or tomato sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Combine beef, rice, onion, salt and pepper.

2Steam cabbage whole until leaves pull off easily (only a few leaves will pull off at a time).

3Place cabbage back over steam until all are removed.

4Place small leaves in bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan.

5Roll 1 to 3 tablespoons of mixture in each leaf.

6Place seams down in pan.

7Pour tomato sauce or tomatoes (if using whole tomatoes, add 1/2 cup water) over cabbage rolls.

8Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour.

9Keep check; do not let cook dry.

10Add water, if necessary.
