- 1 lg. cake of yeast
- 1 pt. hot lowfat milk
- 4 yolks & 1 whole egg
- 1/2 c. + 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 pound butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Grated rind of 1/2 orange
- About 7 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm lowfat milk; add in 1 Tbsp.

2sugar and 2 c. flour, cover and let stand in hot place about 1/2 hour.

3(Sponge mix.)

4Beat Large eggs, sugar, vanilla, orange rind, salt and beat till light.

5Add in this to the sponge, heat butter, add in to mix.

6Add in remaining 5 c. flour.

7Knead about 5 min.

8Cover and let rise about 1 hour, or possibly till double in bulk.

9Turn onto floured board.

10Pat with hands till dough is half inch thickness.

11Cut with doughnut cutter and let rise again.

12Drop in deep warm fat.

13Fry till done.

14When cold, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
