  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. Italian herb season
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 c. raw long grain rice
  • 1 (15 oz.) can herb flavored tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. beef broth or water

    Combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, herb seasoning, salt and pepper.

    Mix well.

    Divide meat mixture into 4 equal parts.

    Shape each into a ball.

    Press each ball down slightly. Roll each meatball in rice.

    Place in a casserole dish.

    Combine the tomato sauce with the broth or water.

    Pour over the meat balls.

    Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until the rice and meat are cooked.
