  • 2 to 3 lb. pork butt
  • 3 onions, quartered
  • 2 tsp. garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. white pepper
  • 1/2 c. white wine
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/3 c. lite soy sauce
  • 3 star anise or 1/4 tsp. anise

    Trim excess fat.

    Place meat and onions in a 3 to 4-quart casserole.

    Mix all ingredients and pour over top. Bake 3 hours at 300°.
