  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sweet milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. lemon extract

    Sift flour, then measure.

    Add baking powder and salt.

    Sift 5 or 6 times.

    Cream the margarine and Crisco.

    Add sugar.

    Cream thoroughly.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Add flavoring and bake in a greased and floured pan for 1 hour and 25 minutes at 325°.
