  • 1 c. sour or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. pecans or walnuts
  • 1 c. mashed prunes
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and beat well. Sift flour once, then measure and add soda, baking powder, salt and spices and sift again.

    Add dry ingredients and milk at same time; beat well.

    Last, add nuts and prunes.
