  • 1 large can or jar white (Great Northern) beans or pinto beans
  • flavorings (country ham, bacon, etc.)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • spices to taste

Directions

    Drain the beans in a colander. Rinse beans with cool water. Place beans in Dutch oven or large saucepan. Cover with water. Add flavorings, spices, seasonings, etc.

    Bring to a boil and cook for 30 minutes. Serve with cornbread.
