  • FOR THE BISCUITS:
  • 1 cup Quick Mix (recipe Below)
  • 1/2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoons Garlic Powder (scant)
  • 2 teaspoons Chives, Finely Snipped (optional And Seasonal For Me)
  • 1/3 cups Milk
  • FOR THE QUICK MIX:
  • 6 cups Flour
  • 3 Tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Butter

    For the biscuits: Preheat oven to 425 F. Gently stir the quick mix before measuring it out and using it, to ensure that the buttery bits are not all at the bottom.

    In a medium sized mixing bowl stir together quick mix, cheese, garlic powder and chives, if using. Add milk and mix until all ingredients are moistened. If dough is too stiff, a tablespoon or two of additional milk could be added. Using a teaspoon, spoon dough onto baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

    For the quick mix:

    Place 3 cups of the flour in a bowl. Add baking powder and salt. Using a mixer or pastry blend, cut butter into flour mixture. Add remaining flour. Mix well. Store in a plastic container or bag in the refrigerator or freezer. Use within two months (refrigerator) to four months (freezer).
