- 1 medium head red cabbage, shredded
- 2 eating apples, peeled and cored
- 1/2 lb. bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1 c. water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- dash of cinnamon
- dash of cloves
Directions

1Fry bacon until crisp.

2Add shredded cabbage and chopped onion; mix well with bacon and drippings.

3Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt, pepper and spices.

4Bring to a boil; reduce to simmer, cover and cook 45 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
