  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring

Directions

    Mix flour, cocoa and soda.

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.

    Add the vanilla. Combine buttermilk, food coloring and vinegar.

    Add the dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk mixture.

    Bake in layer cake pans at 350° for 25 minutes.
