- 4 (1/2 oz.) bottles red food coloring
- 3 Tbsp. Nestle milk cocoa
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. soda
Directions

1Make coloring paste by mixing red food coloring with cocoa. Set aside.

2Cream Crisco with sugar.

3Add eggs and coloring paste and beat 10 minutes.

4Mix in buttermilk slowly.

5Add flour and salt.

6Add vanilla and mix well.

7Stir (with a spoon) in separately vinegar and soda.

8Mix well and bake in 3 well-greased and floured 8-inch pans 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.
