Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups milk
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1 12 teaspoons salt
  • 14 cup Crisco
  • 14 cup water (luke warm)
  • 4 -5 cups flour
  • 2 14 teaspoons active dry yeast (.25 ounces, at room temperature)

Directions

    In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

    Scald milk.

    Add sugar, salt, & Crisco.

    Cool to lukewarm before adding yeast.

    Add half the flour & beat until smooth.

    Add remaining flour.

    Let dough rest 10 minutes.

    Knead on floured board until smooth.

    Place in greased bowl.

    Cover & let rise in warm place until double in bulk.

    Punch down & rub with melted Crisco.

    Put in refrigerator until needed.

    When ready to bake, remove from refrigerator, preheat oven to 425.

    Knead lightly, place in greased pans.

    Bake 15-20 minutes.
