  • 4 handfuls vermicelli
  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 4 cans Campbell's consomme
  • 1/2 can water
  • 1 lb. MJB long grain rice (2 c.)
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
  • 2 pkg. blanched almonds
  • chives (if desired)

Directions

    Break up vermicelli in melted butter and brown.

    Add consomme and water.

    Add rice.

    Heat until hot.

    Cover and cook 45 minutes with lid on.

    No peeking!

    Add almonds, mushrooms and chives. Bake 45 minutes in casserole at 350°.

    Serves 16; may be halved.
