- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. milk
- 2 tsp. salt
- 5 c. sifted flour
- melted butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. very warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Soften yeast in water.

2Scald milk.

3Add sugar, salt and shortening.

4Cool to lukewarm.

5Add flour to make a thick batter. Mix well.

6Add softened yeast and eggs.

7Beat well.

8Add enough more flour to make a soft dough.

9Turn out on a lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead until smooth and satiny.

10Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours).

11When light, punch down.

12Cover and let rise 10 minutes.

13Roll dough out on board and cut with round cutters. Place each roll in buttered pan, just barely touching each other. Brush with butter.

14Let rise until doubled (45 minutes).

15Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.

16Yields 3 1/2 dozen rolls.
