- 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. crushed fennel seed
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. butter, chilled
- 4 Tbsp. Crisco, chilled
- 5 to 6 Tbsp. ice water
- 4 tsp. Dijon mustard or honey mustard
- 1 precooked sausage (1 1/2 lb.), cut in half
- 1 egg yolk, mixed with 1 Tbsp. water
Directions

1Combine flour, fennel and salt in bowl.

2Preheat oven to 350°. Cut butter and shortening into pieces and add to flour.

3Use pastry cutter to cut to coarse texture.

4Add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and toss with fork until mixture forms a ball.

5Makes 2 balls.

6Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
