  • 3 c. quick cooking oats
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening, softened
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. cold water

    Mix flour, oats, salt and sugar.

    Cut in shortening.

    Add water, mixing with fork.

    Roll out to about 1/4-inch thick.

    Cut out into rounds (with glass).

    Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° until golden brown (about 20 to 25 minutes).
