- 1 1/2 c. old-fashioned oats or 1 1/4 c. quick cooking oats, uncooked
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. raisins or currants
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients.

2Add butter, milk and egg, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in raisins. Shape dough into a ball, then pat out on a floured surface into an 8-inch circle. Cut into wedges.

3Place on a cookie sheet and bake in a 425° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

4Yields 8 to 12 scones.
