Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast ( or 1 large fresh cake yeast)
- 2 c. lukewarm water
- 1/4 c. oil or soft Crisco
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 to 7 c. bread flour (enough to make a soft dough)
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Add oil or shortening.

3Add sugar, salt and gradually add flour until it forms a soft dough. Knead mixture until smooth and elastic; turn into lightly oiled bowl.

4Cover and allow to rise 1 1/2 hours.

5Punch down; form into 2 loaves, in bread pans or one large loaf and place in greased pans.

6Place loaves in middle of preheated 400° oven and bake 10 minutes, then reduce to 350° and bake 20 to 25 minutes or until nicely browned.

7Remove onto cooling rack.
