Ingredients

  • 1 head lettuce
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 small can peas
  • 1 pt. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
  • grated American cheese
  • bacon

Directions

    Prepare the day before.

    Tear lettuce; place in serving bowl. Layer the vegetables and peas.
  3. 3
    Spread mayonnaise on top. Sprinkle sugar on top of mayonnaise, then cheese on top of sugar. Refrigerate 15 to 24 hours.

    Fry and crumble bacon; place on top of salad before serving.

    To add color, chop tomato and place around edge of serving bowl.
