- 1 head lettuce
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 small can peas
- 1 pt. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
- grated American cheese
- bacon
Directions

1Prepare the day before.

2Tear lettuce; place in serving bowl. Layer the vegetables and peas.

3Spread mayonnaise on top. Sprinkle sugar on top of mayonnaise, then cheese on top of sugar. Refrigerate 15 to 24 hours.

4Fry and crumble bacon; place on top of salad before serving.

5To add color, chop tomato and place around edge of serving bowl.
