Ingredients

  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. beef or bacon drippings or cooking oil
  • 1 1/4 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch mixed with 2 Tbsp. cold water
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. steak sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 c. hot seasoned potatoes

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400°.

    Saute onion and green pepper in drippings in a large skillet over moderate heat for 10 minutes, or until onion is golden.

    Add beef and saute, breaking meat up with a spoon about ten minutes until lightly browned, drain off fat as it accumulates.
