Ingredients
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. cooked shrimp, shelled and deveined or 3 (7 oz.) cans shrimp
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- bay leaf or pinch of dried basil if desired
Directions

1If using canned shrimp, rinse in cold water and drain.

2Make sauce:

3Cook onion, green pepper and mushrooms in butter for 5 minutes; stir in flour, cook until bubbly.

4Add tomato sauce, salt, MSG, pepper and either bay leaf or dried basil.

5Cook about 10 minutes, toss in shrimp, bring sauce to boil, then simmer 5 minutes until shrimp are heated through.

6Serve over rice.

7Makes 6 servings.

8(To prepare in a casserole:

9Place shrimp in buttered casserole, add sauce, mix well.

10Heat at 350° for 30 minutes or until heated through.
