Shrimp Spread

Ingredients

  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 2 envelopes Knox gelatine
  • 3/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 3 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 3/4 c. finely chopped celery
  • 2 (7 oz.) cans tiny shrimp
  • 1 c. mayonnaise

Directions

    Soften and heat together tomato soup and cream cheese.

    Add gelatine, dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water.

    Mix until smooth.

    Add finely chopped celery and onion.

    Blend together well.

    In the meantime, drain cans of shrimp and mash.

    Mix shrimp with lemon juice and mayonnaise.

    Add this mixture to soup and cheese mixture. Blend well.

    Pour into mold (or molds) of your choice (a copper fish mold is my favorite).

    Chill for at least 3 hours before serving with your favorite crackers or party rye bread.
