- 1 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- cinnamon and sugar, mixed
Directions

1Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.

2Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt and stir into shortening mixture.

3Chill dough.

4Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

5Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.

6Bake at 400° for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned, but still soft.

7These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with wrinkled tops.

8Makes 5 dozen.
