- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1/2 almond flavoring
- 1 c. chopped hickory nuts
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. milk
- 6 egg whites, beaten stiff
Directions

1Sift flour, salt and baking powder together 6 times.

2Cream sugar, shortening, vanilla and almond flavoring.

3Add milk alternately with flour mixture to creamed mixture.

4Fold in hickory nuts, then egg whites.

5Bake in two greased and floured 9-inch cake pans for 25 to 30 minutes at 375°.
