- 2 c. unsifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. water
- vegetable oil
- confectioners sugar
- ground cinnamon
Directions

1In large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. With pastry blender, cut shortening into flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.

2Sprinkle water over flour mixture, one tablespoon at a time, mixing lightly after each addition.

3Stir until mixture forms a ball.

4Knead until smooth, about 3 minutes. Roll half dough into a 12 x 9-inch rectangle.

5Cut into 12 (3 x 3-inch) squares.

6Heat 1 1/2 inches of oil to 400°.

7Fry squares, turning with slotted spoon.

8Cook until golden brown.

9Drain. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and drizzle with honey.

10Repeat with remaining dough.
