- 2 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- oil for deep frying
Directions

1Combine first 4 ingredients in bowl, mix well.

2Cut in shortening until crumbly.

3Make well in center.

4Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

5Add to scalded milk after cooled in bowl. Pour into dry ingredients.

6Mix well.

7Knead 15 to 20 times.

8Let stand for 10 minutes.

9Roll 1/4-inch thick on floured surface; cut into squares or triangles.

10Deep fry at 420° until puffed and golden brown.

11Yields 24 servings.
