  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp. rum flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 c. English walnuts, chopped (or hickory nuts)
  • 3 c. flour

Directions

    Combine shortening and sugar; cream together. Add eggs, sour cream, milk, salt, baking powder and flavorings. Mix well. Add 2 c. flour; blend well; dust the nuts with the remaining cup of flour; add to batter. Mix into batter. Pour into large, greased and floured tube pan or 3 loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
