  • 2 c. proofed sourdough batter
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter or Crisco
  • 1/2 c. milk or buttermilk

Directions

    Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and cut in butter.

    Mix milk with batter and stir into dry ingredients.

    Knead on a board for about 30 seconds.

    Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick; cut into circles with glass or biscuit cutter.

    Place on greased cookie sheet. Allow to rise 30 minutes.

    Brush with melted butter or milk and bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
