  • 1 c. sour milk
  • 1/2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • white of 1 egg, beaten stiff (add last)

Directions

    Mix in the order given and bake in muffin tins or in a shallow pan in a moderate to hot oven (400° to 425°) for 20 minutes.

    To be a real Southern bread, this should be made of white cornmeal made from the whole grain.
