  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 Tbsp. Griffins waffle syrup
  • 1 c. mashed bananas
  • 1/2 c. ground English walnuts
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates

Directions

    Sift all dry ingredients; cream butter, eggs, vanilla and syrup.

    Mix buttermilk with bananas.

    Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk/bananas.

    Add walnuts and dates.

    Bake in two nine-inch cake pans (floured and greased). Bake at 350° until done.

    Cool and top with Penuche Icing.
