- 1/2 bushel tomatoes
- 4 hot peppers (for hotter sauce, only 2 if mild)
- 3 lb. chopped onions
- 2 c. cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp. oregano
- 1/2 c. salt
- 2 Tbsp. basil
- 1 c. sugar
- 5 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste (use 6 if you want it thick)
Directions

1Cook the first 3 ingredients 2 to 3 hours.

2Add the oil, oregano, salt, basil and sugar. Cook 1 hour, then add the tomato paste.

3Bring to a hard boil. Remove from heat. Can or freeze. Makes 11 quarts.
