Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 4 hot peppers (for hotter sauce, only 2 if mild)
  • 3 lb. chopped onions
  • 2 c. cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 (12 oz.) cans tomato paste (use 6 if you want it thick)

Directions

    Cook the first 3 ingredients 2 to 3 hours.

    Add the oil, oregano, salt, basil and sugar. Cook 1 hour, then add the tomato paste.

    Bring to a hard boil. Remove from heat. Can or freeze. Makes 11 quarts.
