Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 2 whole heads garlic
  • 1 pt. Wesson oil
  • 4 bell peppers
  • 1 or 2 hot peppers
  • 3 lb. onions
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. salt plus 1 Tbsp.
  • 4 cans tomato paste (big cans)
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp. basil

Directions

    Simmer tomatoes and garlic until done.

    Put through colander and set aside.

    Add Wesson oil, peppers, hot peppers and onions to tomato juice and simmer 3 hours.

    Combine sugar, salt, tomato paste, oregano and basil and bring to a rolling boil.

    Put in hot sterilized jars and seal.
