Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. each: hot and sweet Italian sausage
  • 3 large cans tomato puree
  • 2 medium red bell peppers
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 or 4 cloves garlic, pressed
  • oregano, basil and pepper to taste
  • 1 pkg. fresh or 1 large can mushrooms

Directions

    Roast peppers under broiler until blackened.

    Cool and peel. Chop peppers, onion and mushrooms.

    Cook vegetables in small amount of olive oil until tender in stock pot.

    Brown sausage and ground beef.

    Add vegetables and seasoning.

    Add garlic only after, to avoid burning.

    Add tomato puree.

    Bring to simmer for 2 to 3 hours, depending on how hot you want sauce.

    Remove hot sausage. Makes very large amount.

    May be frozen, or use half the recipe.
