Ingredients
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. scalded milk, cooled
- 1/4 c. soft shortening
- 1 large egg
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Pour lukewarm water into mixing bowl.

2Dissolve yeast in water. Stir well.

3Add milk, shortening, egg and dry ingredients.

4Mix on low speed of mixer until well blended.

5Beat 2 minutes at moderate speed.

6Cover with wax paper.

7Set in warm place and let rise until dough is bulk.

8Beat 20 to 30 stokes by hand.

9Drop by spoonfuls into greased muffin pans.

10Cover and let rise until batter reaches top of pan.

11Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown.
