Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) dry green split peas
- 2 qt. water
- 1 meaty ham bone (1 lb.)
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 1 c. chopped carrot
Directions

1In large saucepan, soak peas overnight in water (or combine peas and water).

2Bring to boil, about 2 minutes.

3Add ham bone, onion, garlic salt, marjoram and dash of black pepper to pea mixture.

4Bring to boiling.

5Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, stirring constantly.

6Remove ham bone.

7Cut off meat.

8Dice meat.
-
9Add to soup, along with remaining ingredients.

10Cook until vegetables are tender.
