  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3/4 cups Onions, Chopped
  • 1-1/2 cup Ham, Diced
  • 2 quarts Chicken Broth
  • 1 pound Dried Split Peas (Soaked Overnight And Drained)
  • 4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoons Ground Pepper
  • 1 cup Carrots, Peeled And Sliced

Directions

    Melt butter in kettle. Add onion and ham, saute for 5 minutes, stirring. Stir in broth, drained split peas and salt and pepper. Bring to boil, reduce heat and boil gently (covered) for 3 or 4 hours. Add carrots and cook 1 hour longer.
