Split Pea Soup

- 1 pkg. green split peas
- 2 bay leaves
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ham hock (or hot dogs)
- 4 diced carrots
- 4 diced potatoes
Directions

1Peas must be soaked overnight.

2In a soup pot, put in peas and 6 cups of water.

3Add bay leaves and salt and pepper to taste. Add in ham hock.

4Simmer for an hour and a half.

5Scoop out ham hock (discard).

6Put peas (a few cups at a time) in a blender to puree.

7Return soup to the pot and add carrots and potatoes (and hot dogs if you did not use a ham hock).

8Add water, if soup is too thick.
