Split Pea Soup

  • 1 meaty ham bone
  • 3 qt. water
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 pkg. green or yellow split peas
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Soak peas in water overnight. Drain.

    Put peas and ham bone in water.

    Add onions and celery.

    Bring to boil and simmer slowly, stirring occasionally until peas disintegrated and turned to mush. Add seasonings.

    Makes 8 to 10 servings.
