- 1 lb. split peas
- 2 qt. water
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 large carrot, diced
- 1 branch celery, sliced thinly
- 1 sprig parsley
- 1/4 tsp. white ground pepper
- salt to taste
- 1/4 lb. precooked ham, diced
- hard-boiled egg, sliced
- paprika
Directions

1Wash split green peas and add to 2 quarts boiling water.

2Add diced vegetables.

3Cover pot and simmer on low temperature about 1 hour.

4Add ham pieces.

5Simmer about another 30 minutes.

6Peas should look mushy.

7Soup will need to be stirred occasionally to prevent sticking.
