  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

    Mix as for biscuits, making a stiff dough.

    Divide into 5 parts.

    Roll into balls and keep in refrigerator.

    Take out 1 ball at a time and roll into a layer to fit pan.

    Bake in greased hoe cake baker if you have one. Prick with fork and bake 10 to 12 minutes at 400°.

    Watch, as they burn easily.

    Remove from baker to cake plate.

    Spread with sweetened dried apples or fresh applesauce or cooked and sweetened dried peaches.
