  • 12 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 12 cup butter, softened
  • 23 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 13 cup half-and-half or 13 cup light cream
  • 14 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 12 cups chopped strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons finely shredded orange rind
  • 34 cup butter
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350.

    Grease and flour a 6-cup fluted tube pan; set aside.

    In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spice and 1/4 teaspoons salt.

    In a large bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.

    Add sugar; beat until combined.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    In a bowl, combine half-and-half, orange juice and vanilla.

    Alternately, add flour mixture and juice mixture to egg mixture, beating on low speed after each addition just until combined.

    Fold in strawberries and orange peel.

    Spoon batter into prepared pan.

    Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

    To prepare Butter Sauce: Heat 3/4 cup butter over medium-low heat until melted.
