Stuffed Onions

Ingredients

  • 6 medium onions
  • 1/2 c. grated cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 lb. pork sausage
  • 1 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Cut off 1/2 inch of top or bottom of peeled onions.

    Place in boiling water for about 7 minutes.

    Remove onion centers and set aside to use in stuffing.

    Fry sausage until red disappears; drain.

    Chop onion centers.

    Combine cheese, bread crumbs, eggs, parsley, sugar, cinnamon, milk, salt and pepper.

    Mix well.

    Stuff onion shells.

    Stand shells up in buttered baking dish.

    May top with small pieces of bacon and bake at 350° for 1/2 hour. Hamburger may be substituted or ground turkey or chicken.
