  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 9 firm apples, cut in cubes
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. nuts, mixed

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add nuts and eggs (beaten).

    Add dry ingredients, apples and nuts.

    Bake in greased pan for 1 hour at 350°.

    May be served hot or cold.

    It's good with an icing of 2 cups powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon butter and enough hot coffee to mix.

    Will be thin.

    Spread on cake.
