- 1 gal. chunk cucumbers
- 1 c. plain salt in enough water to cover pickles in gal. jug
- 3 Tbsp. alum
- 2 1/2 lb. sugar
- vinegar
Directions

1Let cucumbers set in salt water for 5 days.

2Drain and wash. Add alum in water to cover pickles.

3Let stand 24 hours.

4Drain and wash.

5Cover pickles with vinegar.

6Let stand 24 hours. Drain.

7Put pickles back in jug.

8Pour sugar over pickles.

9Leave in jug.

10Does not have to be sealed.

11May add pickling spice, if desired.
