- 2 to 3 lb. round steak, 1-inch thick
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 large green pepper, sliced
- 1 can (4 oz.) chopped mushrooms, undrained
- 1 bottle (14 oz.) ketchup
- 2 c. water
Directions

1Remove excess fat from steak; cut meat into 6 to 8 pieces. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; pound into both sides of meat with mallet or edge of saucer.

2Brown meat in shortening in heavy skillet.

3Add onion, pepper and mushrooms.

4Blend ketchup and water; pour over steak.

5Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, about 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
