- 1 cake yeast (can use 1 pkg. dry yeast)
- 1/2 c. milk, scalded and cooled
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 scant tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
Directions

1Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water.

2Add melted shortening and half of flour.

3Beat well until smooth.

4Add salt and balance of flour (or at least enough to make a moderately firm dough).

5Knead thoroughly.

6Roll and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on well-greased pan a slight distance apart.

7Cover and let rise (about 2 hours).

8Bake in 425° oven for 10 minutes.
