- 28 oz. canned, crushed tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Heat the olive oil in a skillet until hot, but not smoking. Cook the garlic and onion until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

2If using whole tomatoes, crush them with your hands as you add them to the pan. Include the juices. If using canned tomatoes, add the entire contents of the pan. Add the seasonings. Stir to combine, bring to a simmer, and cover. At a very low heat, simmer for 30 to 40 minutes.

3If you like a thicker sauce, remove the lid, and cook for 10 minutes more to evaporate some of the liquid. Sauce should cooked, but still be bright red in color.
