  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can tomato soup (small)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

    Cream sugar and shortening together.

    Add water, egg and soup; mix well.

    Stir in walnuts.

    Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
